We love reading a good paperback or hard cover book. Kindles just aren’t cricket. There’s a plethora of self-help books out their focusing on self-growth, mindset, and money. And believe me, we’ve read a lot of them!
In this article, we’ll discuss eight books that have had a profound effect on our lives and helped us overcome various issues and turn us into manifestation machines.
Here’s the list:
- The Secret
- The Master Key System
- Becoming Supernatural
- Psycho Cybernetics
- The Compound Effect
- Atomic Habits
- Psychology of Money
- The Science of Getting Rich
The Secret
First on the list is The Secret. When it comes to self-growth we must be in a positive mental state. The Secret reminds us how powerful our minds are. The book teaches that we must be clear on exactly what we want. You must think in detail how you want your future life to be and write your goals down on a piece of paper. This is putting your request out into the universe. In The Secret this is known as the first stage: Ask.
The next stage is Believe. We must believe that our goal is going to happen. There are various techniques that can be used to increase belief. Visualization is a method taught in the book. If your goal is to lose body fat, you would close your eyes and picture yourself with your perfect physique. The subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between imagination and what’s real, in theory repeatedly visualizing an outcome should manifest quicker.
Another technique is to act as if the goal already has been achieved. Just let go, don’t worry about it and let the universe manifest what you asked for. This brings us to the third and final stage: Receiving. This is when what you asked for manifests in your life. The book contains a variety of methods to help us achieve all our goals and live the life that we want to.
The Master Key System
Our next recommendation is The Master Key System. This follows on nicely from The Secret. This book goes into great detail on the technique of visualization. It provides 24 detailed steps to achieve your dream life. This powerful system was kept under wraps for many years and the steps are still difficult to find on the internet today.
Becoming Supernatural
Becoming Supernatural is a self-help book by Joe Dispenza. Joe discovered just how powerful meditation is and that it could re-wire the brain. He provides anecdotes of people he’s done workshops with who have cured terminal illnesses through meditation and changing their paradigm. People have lost hundreds of pounds through changing their thought processes and belief system. Just like The Secret, this book again reiterates the power of the mind and how it affects our entire life. This book is particularly relevant to people suffering with illnesses, anxiety, or depression.
Psycho-Cybernetics
Number 4 on our list is Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. This is a really interesting one – the author was a plastic surgeon who realized that someone’s self-image affected every aspect of their life. Self-image is how you view yourself based on past experiences including perceived successes and failures. As a plastic surgeon, he would re-model someone’s nose for example, but he found a large percentage of patients didn’t become more confident after the procedure. He found that the patient’s negative self-image was so deep-rooted that they would not find happiness until they overcame their beliefs about themselves and learned to love themselves.
Psycho-Cybernetics teaches us how we can improve our self-image and in turn improve every facet of our lives. If we believe we’ve “failed” at something in the past subconsciously we may feel like we will fail at something similar in the future. By building our self-image and self confidence we can achieve anything we set out minds to.
The Compound Effect
The Compound Effect shows us how making small changes to our daily habits can provide incredible positive results over a long period of time. The book teaches us the importance of both consistency and persistence. Little positive tweaks to our routine can yield huge results in 12 or 24-months’ time. A good example of this is performing resistance training 3-4 times per week. Alongside a balanced diet that provides adequate carbohydrates, protein, and good fats this is going to yield impressive results just a few months down the line.
Atomic Habits
Number 6 on the list is of a similar ilk to The Compound Effect. It’s called Atomic Habits, and again focuses on introducing positive habits into our daily routine. It provides a variety of different techniques to maximize results. One of the standout methods is “habit stacking”. This is when multiple habits are performed at once. For example, you may take up meditation while listening to a Solfeggio Frequency and while performing deep breathing exercises.
The Psychology of Money
The penultimate book is The Psychology of Money, and the key teaching is you need to use money to gain control over your time. This means building income streams to get out of the dreaded 9 to 5 job. The book also covers the importance of saving and investing money to build wealth over a number of years. It teaches us “less ego, more wealth”. Supress buying frivolous things today in exchange for more and better options in the future after you’ve used your money to build more wealth.
The Science of Getting Rich
Last but not least is The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. This combines many similar theories from the aforementioned books. The author paints a picture of the importance of our mindset when it comes to making money. He reiterates the power of positive thinking and how combining it with visualization and persistent action will get you what you want in life.
