Bryan Johnson is a multi-millionaire tech entrepreneur famous for selling his company to Paypal for hundreds of millions of dollars. More recently he’s become known for spending $2 million a year on slowing down the aging process. His diet is a huge part of this – but what does he eat as part of his anti-aging diet?
The techpreneur sold his company Braintree, which owned Venmo, to PayPal in 2013 for $800 million. In 2016 he founded Kernel, which creates neuroimaging technology with the objective of improving the way the brain is measured.
Slowing Down the Aging Process
His current endeavours also include him trying to slow down the aging process. He’s stated that he spends around $2 million a year to reduce the rate his mind and body ages. Much of this is spent on cutting edge technology and expensive supplements. However, his diet also plays a huge part in improving his health and it doesn’t break the bank.
Discussing his goal of slowing down his speed of aging Bryan Johnson says: “Years ago, I sold my company Braintree Venmo for I've been spending those millions trying to reduce my speed of aging, and I just achieved a personal best: 0.64. That roughly means that for every 12 months that pass, I only age for 7.6 months.”
The Importance of Diet
The entrepreneur places huge importance on eating a healthy diet. He states: “An important part of this is my diet. My team and I have gone through a methodical process over the years where we've built my diet much like I built software at Braintree Venmo.”
Bryan Johnson optimizes his health in the same way he develops software. By testing, analyzing and then further optimizing until he gets better results. He explains: “When you build software, you build version one, and it moves to version two and version three. Every version gets a little better because you remove the bad stuff and add more good stuff. I've done the same thing with my diet.”
The health enthusiast’s speed of aging is currently slower than the average 10-year-old. He believes his diet has played a huge part in that. He says: “I’ve been spending millions of dollars trying to create the perfect diet. What I did is I asked all my organs in the body – ‘Hey, heart, liver and kidney – what do you need to be your best self?’”
